DNA Canada's Legal DNA Paternity Test results
are admissible in a court of law. Because most states differ in their
requirements, DNA Canada adheres to the most stringent standards set
by the AABB. If you are interested in personal paternity testing using
our kit for collecting specimens at home, see our Personal
DNA Paternity Test page.
Three Steps to Determine Paternity for Legal Purposes
- Order online or call 1-866-DNA-DNA9 to order your Complete Legal
Paternity Test. A $200 deposit is required prior
to scheduling the DNA specimen collection appointments. Deposits
are partially refundable up until all the specimens are collected.
Full refunds are provided if you are not satisfied with
the locations that we have found in your area. Appointments
are scheduled three to four days in advance. For each individual
being tested at a facility other than DNA Canada (MDS Labs, Kingston,
Ontario) there is an additional $30 charge. If individuals are
located in different areas, DNA Canada will set up collection
appointments at multiple locations. A $30 fee is applied per each
additional specimen collection location requested. Once you are
satisfied with the scheduled appointments and locations DNA Canada
sends the collection kit, with all the forms and instructions,
directly to the specimen collection facility.
- Follow the easy instructions to have the specimens collected
at the facility.
For added convenience, DNA Canada pays for all specimen
collection fees. You will NOT pay anything to the collection facility.
The alleged father's and child's specimens are required to determine
paternity, but if the mother is available she should also submit
her specimens for testing (at no additional fee). Fingerprints
and pictures may be taken at the time of collection to ensure
proper identification of subjects in the paternity analysis. It
is a good idea, but not necessary, to bring a recent photograph
of the child to the collection facility if a picture ID or birth
certificate is not available. Remember to bring the following
items to the collection facility:
- Valid Picture ID (adults)
- Birth Certificate (children)
NOTE: If either of these forms of ID are not
available additional paperwork will need to be completed.
- After collection the specimens will be sent to the laboratory
for paternity testing. The full balance needs to be paid
before the DNA testing at the laboratory begins. Results
are available in 10-12 business days, after full payment is received
and specimens are collected. Results will be provided via email,
telephone, mail and/or facsimile.
